Our Journey To Recovery

Saturday July 14th 6 pm

Thanks for all the continued prayers  Christopher had a restful night last night and a stable day today which we are thankful for.

Yesterday, the doctors decided to give Christopher medicine to put him in a medically induced coma which means he is unconscious . This is very important to give his brain and body total relaxation and quiet in order to start the healing process.  He could remain this way for several weeks.

His intracranial pressure ( swelling in his brain) is down  today which is a positive sign and his oxygenation of his blood in his brain  has risen to greater than 30 ( the  goal was to get it above 20 ) so this is also good!  The pressure on his 3rd cranial nerve seems to be less so his pupils are now reacting to light.  The neurosurgeons are encouraged by this.   In addition, using a special catheter inserted into a large vein, the doctors are cooling Christopher's temperature  down to 92 degrees which also helps Christopher's brain to maintain his oxygen levels.

Christopher is so lucky to have so many people that love and care about him. We want to thank the baseball team for all the personal letters and the signed baseball you gave our family several days ago  and look forward to when Christopher can read these himself.

Our journey continues one day at a time and we appreciate all the kindness shown to us. Thank you.

Let's pray Christopher has another quiet night.
