Weekend August 18 and 19th

Over these past couple days Christopher has had minimal change and continues to progress with extended periods off the ventilator. Both Saturday and Sunday he was off the ventilator for nearly 10 hours. Steady progress.

Once he gets off the ventilator he will be able to increase his time with PT. He is exhibiting signs of contractures in his arms because of the constant tension in his muscles. This means his muscles have shortened. They will need to place his arm in a cast to help correct the muscle shortening.

Christopher has seemed be more alert, but still does not acknowledge anyone's presence around him; his eyes are open but without recognition. Debbie is optimistic about getting him out of his room this week while he is in the wheelchair. The more active stimulation the better. Thanks again to everyone keep the prayers coming.
