Christopher had a good night; he
seemed well rested when I arrived this morning. We sat together and read the
sport sections of the Saturday and Sunday papers, all about Lassiter and the
other high school games. ESPN, of course, was playing on the television. We
skipped the Auburn article!
Emma, his care assistant and I got
him freshened up, dressed and ready for the day. He and I were soon ready to
head outside, it was such a beautiful morning. The way to the garden is still
blocked, due to the renovation of the front entrance, so we decided to sit out
front. We watched the cars coming in and out of the front drive and watched the
workers cutting tile for the front lobby. The noise soon got to be too much so
we decided to try the terrace up on the 7th floor. Debbie had told me
about it earlier and I hadn’t been before, so up we went.
On the 7th floor there is
an auditorium and some administrative areas as well. The terrace unfortunately
was locked; evidently the terrace is reserved for the use of the board members
and donors. There was a small dining area just off of the terrace, so we sat
there and looked out the windows. You could see all of Buckhead and all the way
over to Stone Mountain . It was beautiful. We
sat there for quite a while reading through some of the comments on the blog
before we were surprised by Marley and her mom Susan. Christopher really enjoys
seeing them and we appreciate them coming in. Debbie was not far behind and soon
joined us as well. We had a very nice visit sitting there looking out over the
city.
We are so blessed, Christopher
continues to make progress. Debbie was showing Marley and Susan how Christopher
was trying to give us the thumbs up sign and using the red and green buttons to
answer yes and no. He is trying so hard to communicate; sometimes the movements
are so subtle they are hard to see. He is fighting against so much to attempt to
communicate; we are contemplating what his first words will be. We joked about
it today.
I can only say whatever it maybe,
praise the Lord. Lord
we thank you for your many blessings, for without you we are lost. We praise you
for allowing us the strength to carry on. Lord we thank you for giving us the
support of our friends, family and community. You have brought so many of us
together, from so many places, near and far. You have healed our wounds just as
you are healing Christopher’s, and we praise you, for you are the light and the
truth. In Christ name we pray. Amen
