Our Journey To Recovery

Sunday Oct. 28th
Today we were able to spend just a short time outside, the wind was picking up and the temperature dropping. Christopher and I watched as quite a few runners From the Atlanta Marathon came by, Peachtree road had one lane blocked off for the runners. We were between mile marker 23 and 24. Christopher and I both were wrapped up trying to stay out of the wind. Even though we were getting cold I believe Christopher was enjoying seeing the runners as they went by.
We had a good morning, around 12:30 many of the players from Christopher’s East Cobb baseball team came by to see him. It was just like the old days waiting between games, everyone talking at once Coach Frank leading the pack, it was great. Christopher was in his wheelchair, so several of the boys were sitting on the bed, some on the floor and some standing. Christopher didn’t know which way to look. Every time someone would say something, he would look around to see who was talking. I think he definitely recognized the voices and faces. He had a smile on his face as they all walked in.
Debbie made it by Lassiter baseball field and was able to see several of the volunteers working the tournament. She spoke with Coach Kelly, Vicki Anthes and several others while she was there. She said it was freezing. Thank you all for braving the weather, it certainly got colder as the day wore on. Christopher was doing well keeping down his nutritional supplements until this afternoon as soon as Debbie came in he decided to let it go. Reminded me of when he was little, he would run through the house looking for one of us to tell us he was sick, just before he let us see just how sick. So we spent the next several minutes trying to get him cleaned up and settled. We still have not pin pointed what is causing the GI distress, his diet has been changed again to give him less volume with a higher calorie count just trying everything to get some weight on him.
We hope the trach will be removed tomorrow, we will wait and see. Thank you all once again for the constant prayers and continued
