Monday Dec. 3rd

Christopher had a pretty special day today thanks to Marcy and Wendy who sat with him while Debbie ran a few errands. They made the most of the beautiful day by taking Christopher on a stroll through the neighborhood and sitting outside on the back deck watching baseball videos on the IPAD. Debbie was able to get a few things done, along with a little shopping.

All of the volunteers belong to the neighborhood book club, so as part of sitting with Christopher they have decided to read to him. The book they have chosen to read is Believe by Eric LeGrand. Eric is the Rutgers University football player paralyzed during a game against Army in 2010. The ladies are reading a few pages for Christopher each day. It is a great inspirational story about Eric’s rehabilitation and his positive belief that he will have a better life, facing setbacks with strength and courage.

Debbie was able to get Christopher to eat some chicken soup today, as you all know we have been struggling with his inconsistency in swallowing. Today when Debbie presented the soup to his lips he took it, closed his mouth and swallowed immediately. Debbie was astonished; she continued to feed him the soup without him having any difficulty swallowing.

He continues to amaze us daily; you can see the fight in him and the will to get better. We know it will happen, it has to. We won’t give up.
