Christopher has been great this week, he is getting stronger by the day, we continue to work him on the bike, Gary has been wonderful with him, keeping him motivated. We continue to see Jenna, although she was sick this Tuesday we rescheduled our visit for Thursday. Still don't have our communication device, soon I hope.
The weather is cooling off a bit and we have been enjoying sitting on the back deck. Christopher loves sitting there playing with the blocks. He is becoming quite the architect.
Still smiling. |
We have scheduled Christopher's surgery for October the 16th. We will be flying to Philadelphia on the Sunday the 13th meeting with Dr. Keith Baldwin on the 14th with the surgery on Wednesday. The plan is to return the next Sunday the 20th if all goes well.
They intend to have Christopher in a walking boot and on his feet the day after surgery. Oh Boy! We will have to have some follow-up done here, so we are trying to line that up with one of the orthopods here now.
So much to do. Flights and hotels, anyone know how they get people on board the airplanes who can't walk? Should be fun. I may have to throw him onto my back and drag him on.
Cathy worked with Christopher this week and said his organizational skills has improve dramatically over the past few weeks here is a quote from her text she sent me.
"Hey randy- I just wanted you to know that this past Monday I saw a change in
Christopher. With the building blocks he was showing organization like I have never seen with him. He wanted the blocks for 30 minutes.
He was sorting categorizing and definitely was organizing them into structures. This is a big leap. In the past he would just stack and
put away. I was mesmerized watching him- just thought you would like to know. I know it's just blocks but they really can show a
thought process."
Cathy and her family have been so wonderful working with Christopher, Her daughter Hannah helped Gary this Thursday, they worked with Christopher on the bike and then took him for a walk. So many people have mentioned seeing them out on the road. Christopher loves it, I think Gary has just as much fun. Thank y'all.
YAY CHRISTOPHER! We will be praying that the surgery is a success!!
