December 1st - 7th

What a great weekend, Auburn finished the regular season knocking off the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl. "WAR EAGLE"

Sunday evening, Christopher and I headed to the airport on our way back to Philadelphia. We are scheduled to see Dr. Baldwin tomorrow afternoon to get the cast removed. The time has flown by, hard to believe it has been six weeks already.

Heading to Philly
Monday morning, Christopher and I are going by the Good Shepherd Rehab Hospital to visit with the staff prior to the appointment with Dr. Baldwin. We arrived at the hotel last night at about 11:30. It was a little hard getting up this morning. But we were able to get some breakfast downstairs at TGI Fridays, which is part of the hotel.

It is a little wet today but not to cold, thankfully. It was great to see everyone at Good Shepherds, Christopher was so excited. We are so grateful for the care we received while staying there. We cannot thank them enough.

We have arrived at Penn Hospital, appoint is at 3:00, luckily we didn't have to wait very long. The ortho tech got us back to the cast room pretty quick. It only took a few minutes to get the cast off. I was surprised at the number of suture sites. Each foot has about ten or twelve incisions one under each toe and five or six sites on his feet.

Everything looks really good no redness or swelling. Dr. Baldwin came in and had a look and was very pleased at how well Christopher is doing. We are now just waiting to have the walking boots to be fitted. Christopher will wear these until he is fitted with the AFOs in about six more weeks. We'll have this done in Atlanta.

All done we are heading back to the hotel we'll get a little something to eat and then off to bed. Our flight leaves tomorrow around 2:45. We moved to a later flight than what we were originally scheduled in order to get us closer to the front of the plane. On the flight up we were in the very back of the plane, ugh. Not much fun trying to get the wheelchair all the way back there.

At the airport once again.
Christopher had his Auburn blanket around him in the wheelchair and everyone was congratulating us on the game. The flight home was a little crazy we were first row bulkhead behind first class, the arm rail cannot be raised so I had to lift Christopher over two arm rest to get him in the seat. Well that didn't work so he had to sit in the middle seat.

The attendants were trying to get the lady who was supposed to be in the aisle seat in our row to move back a couple of rows but she refused. So she had to contend with Christopher sitting next to her poking her in the ribs with his arm splint. Sorry! Other than that everything went well.

The rest of the week we had a couple of appointments meeting with the new nursing agency for Christopher's home care and going to the Shepherd Center to get his pump refilled.

At church with the family and best bud Coleman
