Friday Nov. 23rd

I forgot to mention yesterday Christopher's new physical therapist was here, she had him stretched around and nearly twisted into a pretzel by the time she was finished. Her name is Stephanie, she is not big as a minute, but she had no problem working Christopher over. We laid him on the couch after his session and he was sound a sleep in no time. We took this time to prepare and eat our Thanksgiving meal. It was great to have our family together.

This morning started out a bit wild. We were awakened by the screams of our fire alarms, the power went out between seven thirty and eight o'clock and evidently the battery back up failed, so the alarms started going off. The dogs were going nuts, Buster's tail was bleeding and he was splattering blood all over the walls and floor, it was crazy. Before long the power was restored and things started to settle down.

By the time we had him dressed and ready for the day his new speech therapist arrived. She gave us some great tips working with Christopher on getting him better at swallowing. He is still holding the fluids in his mouth taking a long time to actually swallow it. Most of this is because he is still struggling with coordinating all the muscles getting them to work together to swallow properly.

A few of the boys from the Lassiter baseball team came over to sit with Christopher, Matt McGuire, Tim Eber and Kasey Robbins. Tim brought the movie Sandlot, so the four of them sat and watched the movie together. The boys were pretty subdued, watching the movie, laughing at times and talking to Christopher. I am sure in the dugout and on the baseball field they would be much more vocal. It was great to see them and see how much they cared for Christopher, to take time to come by and spend time with him. Fine young men.

Debbie took Davis out to get his haircut and do some shopping for some school clothes, he is growing out of everything. It was good for her to get out for a little while. Once they got home we all sat down and watched a movie together, with popcorn and everything.
