Our Journey To Recovery

Our Journey To Recovery

Monday Nov. 19th

We were up early this morning; Christopher had his first trip back to the Shepherd Center. We had an appointment to have his baclofen pump refilled. We hope this will be with the more concentrated dosage, so we won't have to make so many trips back to have it refilled. Although it was nice to go in and see some of the staff, we were there a long time. We had an early morning appointment but didn't get home until after 2pm. We were all tired by the time we got home.

It wasn't long before several of Christopher's friends from school came by to see how he was doing. They're all home from school because of the holidays. It was great to see them sitting with Christopher, tell tales on each other, laughing, it didn't matter whether Christopher could participate or not. They didn't seem to mind, they were having a good time just being together.

Brian Panosian, Luke and Cara also came by we all had a little bite to eat while we sat around talking. It was great. Christopher sat and watched as everyone talked and carried on. As they were all leaving the next round of visitors were just coming in. Bobbie came up with another one of our neighbors Naomi and her daughter Danielle. Danielle also graduated from Lassiter a year or two ahead of Christopher. It was so nice to see all of them today.

We received a beautiful card today, from an anonymous donor, containing a hundred dollar bill. The card talked about how they had heard about Christopher, through a friend of friends of his. They also spoke of how they did not know him, but followed the blog updates and were so inspired by his strength and faith exhibited by the family.

As I have said before, god only knows the plan for Christopher and what the future may bring. We must continue to hope and pray that he will recover, return to us and carry on with his life. It is obvious his struggle has had a major impact on many lives. Christopher is a strong young man with a will to succeed. I know he will not give up. He will fight until the end. He is a good soldier, who has faith in God.

Lord we praise you for leading us on this journey. We put our faith in you, that you will deliver us, carrying our burdens when we cannot. You are our strength, our light, our savior, in your sons name we pray, Amen.

  1. I have been following your blog since the accident. Even thouh I don't know your family or Christopher, you have inspired me so much with the love you demonstrate for your son and your faith in God. I have prayed daily for Christopher's recovery and lit candles eah Sunday in prayer for him and all of you. I have a 17-year-old daughter who attends Lassiter and I hope that if I were faced with the burden that you have carried with such grace for these last 4 months that I could do so with even half the dignity that your family has displayed. Please know how much you are thought about and prayed for. God bless you and keep you close as you travel this difficult journey. Jodie Raybould, Marietta, GA
