Monday Oct. 29th

We have had a pretty good day, still very tentative when administering Christopher’s nutrition. He is still having trouble keeping it his food down.

Therapy went well, in his speech session Cheryl is working with him on photo recognition on the computer system, it is capable of monitoring his eye gaze and what he is looking at. The idea is to get him to look at specific photos to either answer questions or monitor his cognitive ability.

Physical therapy team today has been working on stretching his large muscle groups and monitoring his arms, wrist and hands, to see if the pump is doing its job.

The most significant development has been the removal of his trach. Instead of a complete removal they placed a small closed tube the keeps the hole open. So it has a small phalange on one end that locks it into place along the tracheal wall without a cannula protruding down into the trachea. This went very well. One more item checked off the list.
