Debbie was up early this morning and off to work. Christopher and I had a great day. It started with a call from our neighbors, Kim and Scott Hayes; they had given us the blue gym mat we are using for Christopher during his PT and OT sessions. Well it is a little bigger than the table we have been using, so they had a table built specifically to fit the mat. It was delivered this morning. Perfect fit, the table is about 5’x8’ perfect for stretching Christopher and rolling him from his back to his stomach.
Kim and Shelley were the first to be able to use it. They were scheduled at 10:30 to do PT/OT with Christopher. They are doing sessions between the scheduled session’s setup with Stephanie and Dana. They must have worked him out hard; he was sound asleep within just a few minutes after they left.
Once he finally recovered from the workout, he and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was a nice day, not to hot or too cold. On our walk, we saw Miss Bobbie and Naomi, so we stopped to say hello. Christopher was having a bit of a bad hair day, so when we got home I decided to cut his hair. He would have had a stroke had I tried to cut his hair prior to the accident. He is so particular about it. I think I did a pretty good job.
We ordered a standing frame and it was delivered to the house this afternoon, with it we will be able to get him standing with his full weight on his feet. This will aid us in getting him stronger and more able to use his legs during his transfers to and from the wheelchair and bed. Once I got it uncrated, Davis and I carried it into the house. We couldn't get it to fit on the lift.
During lunch today, I tried him with some of the chicken soup and he definitely preferred it to the ice he had been eating. It has to be nice to be able to actually taste something for a change.
As soon as Debbie got home one of the first things we did was get him standing on the frame, it worked very well.
