Our Journey To Recovery

Wednesday Jan.23rd

I just wanted to start out with a little update from our doctors’ visits today.

Debbie and I took Christopher to see a new physician at Emory Hospital. An 8:30am appointment at the Emory University Hospital, fighting the downtown Atlanta traffic, Oh boy!

Dr Milton was recommended by the rehab physician at Grady as a specialist with the managing the baclofen pumps. His assessment of Christopher’s progress put Debbie’s mind at rest. Informing us that the pump was indeed working as it should. He acknowledged that having the pump placed at such an early stage was aggressive, but given where Christopher is in his recovery it is beneficial. He did slightly increase the dosage and will continue to monitor his progress.

We had to race back to the house, 11 Alive News is scheduled to interview us for a Friday morning broadcast. We met Julie at 11:15 both of us arriving about the same time.
She sat with us and taped about and hours worth of material, if you didn’t get a chance to see it, log on to their website it should still be available.

We had to scramble back out the door, we had an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon at 1:30, about Christopher’s right knee. Dr Scott Kimmerly from Peachtree Orthopedics gave us the news I am sure Christopher didn’t want to hear. His knee has a calcified hematoma that is not impinging on his joint, so he can continue his therapy without any worries of further injuring the knee. Back to the grind Christopher, we are going to get you up and moving.

It was a good day.
