Well it has been a long day, last night Davis and I took Christopher upstairs and showered him. It was after 11 before I got him to bed. We were up at 6:30am to get to the Shepherd Center for a 9:30am appointment. Dr. Sand has recommended that we return to Dr. Jeff Carney who did Christopher's original surgery at Grady. That is what we have been trying to do all along, just having difficulty getting in to see him. Dr. Carney has a lot more experience with the reconstructive surgery Christopher needs.
We had a few hours between appointments so we went over to Piedmont hospital and got something to eat. While we were there we got to see quite a few people we haven't seen in a while. It was really nice. Everyone was amazed at how well Christopher looked, Kenneth one of Christopher's nurses at Shepherd is now working in the Recovery Room at Piedmont so we were able to say hello to him in the cafeteria.
During lunch I received a call from Suncrest Rehab Services, they will be doing Christopher's PT/OT and Speech therapy and will have someone do his assessment tomorrow afternoon. Hallelujah, finally.
We soon headed back through the tunnel to Shepherd for a quick visit with Dr. Simon. After he gave his okay, we headed for home. Christopher fell asleep while we were driving home. I think I was just as tried as he was.
I think we will have an early night tonight.
