Wednesday November 13th

We have been home now for a week, Christopher continues to do very well. He is now taking bites of his food so we are not having to cut everything up like we did before. I know this seems like such a small thing, but the more he can do things like chewing, biting and licking stimulates the muscles in and around his mouth and will aid him in being able to uses those same muscles to speak.

We are continuing with Christopher's exercises here, just as we did in the hospital. One of the things we have been working on is getting him on his stomach. I don't remember him ever being on the wrestling team but it is a challenge getting him on his stomach, the kid is strong an adamant he isn't going down without a fight. Debbie and I finally wore him down and were victorious in getting him on the mat.

Trying to do a push-up.

He started laughing once we got him turned over. We were all huffing and puffing by the time we finished.
                                                                    Here's Christopher trying to do a push-up.

Friday morning we were up early to get to the Shepherd Center for a pump refill. They are also working to get Christopher back into the outpatient therapy group, to continue his PT. We hope to get him started in the next week or so.

Today I was able to flip Christopher with his help, he still resisted a little but he wanted to keep going.

We are trying to graduate Christopher up from his large blocks to some smaller ones like the Duplo blocks, Wendy and Maureen came by to deliver blocks for Christopher. We thank them and Amy who also brought some blocks by. What great friends we have.

Friday night we went to Lassiter's final regular season game against Etowah. We had a great time, we walked into the game with Layne and Brett Ryan. We soon ran into many of the baseball coaches and their wives, they were sitting in the end zone. We also ran into Carly Pizza and her parents. So many people came by to say hello, it was great to see everyone.

During all of that Lassiter was taking care of business, beating Etowah and winning the regional championship.

Over the weekend we watched some football, and relaxed. Coleman came by to visit, Davis was away over the weekend at a church retreat. The first night he got to see Christopher after we returned home, he was expecting Christopher to throw a ball at him. He wasn't looking when Christopher hit him in the neck with a little ball he threw from across the room.

So far everything is going well Christopher will start back at the outpatient facility next week. Y'all please wish him well.

  1. What a great update. I can't believe all he is doing. As I find with hunter every baby strep turns into huge progress. Hunter still has a feeding tube fir water and meds just can't drink enough. Eating is one of our biggest challenges. I'm so excited Christopher is doing awesome with his rehab.

And what a year for those AUBURN TIGERS. I know he is excited to watch those games.

Thank you for the great post.
