Christopher had a minor blip early Thursday morning with the trach being
closed, the nursing staff called thinking he had possibly aspirated fluid into
his lungs, fortunately his subsequent chest x-ray came back negative.
He had another strenuous day of therapy, stretching and pulling. The team
is working to get his limbs back to full range of motion. One exercise today had
him pedaling a stationary bike attached to his wheelchair. He had a bit of a
slow start but with the aid of the electrical stimulation he quickly managed to
keep pace.
Debbie says he picked up a couple of points today following commands during
his speech therapy, blinking his eyes appropriately on command for yes and no
answers. The team also believes he may have said his first word, saying yes. He
has definitely been more focused these last few days.
Praises that he is responding more and more! We continue to keep him in prayer! The Coffey family
ReplyDeleteYes! He continues to come back to us :) Hoping truly strongly that prior to the 19th his level of responsiveness allows him to remain at Sheppard.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - a huge hug from the HOK Kelowna friends.
