Tuesday Sept. 11th

Today has been a good day Christopher was cooperative with therapy, following commands, he was able to peddle the stationary bike again and was much more engaged during speech therapy. Still unable to cast his left arm but he did allow them to do his stretching. He worked well with the team.

Well, in typical male fashion, I was informed by Dr. Dennison late Monday evening that Dr. Sands (Urologist) would be around to see Christopher on Wednesday to do an assessment and that he would need to have a cystogram CT on Tuesday, Dr. Dennison asked if I would be sure to let Debbie know that. Sure, no problem, guess what, problem, by the time I remembered to tell Debbie they were there to take Christopher to Piedmont to have the CT, she wasn't a happy camper, so needless to say I wasn't too popular at that moment. All went well, they were back in the room by the time I arrived and all was good.

Renee our case manager came in to go over some of the plans for Wednesday & Thursday, (family training for us) and also wanted to give us some news. What she thought would be good news, they are extending Christopher's target home date by two weeks, because they feel his has made great progress over the past few days. They feel he is on the verge of emerging from the coma. This is a wonderful thing, it also helped get me out of the doghouse.

Christopher is well on his way to a restful night, as I leave tonight he is sleeping soundly.

Thank you Lord for your blessings, and healing as you tend to Christopher's needs as only you can. We ask that you continue to minister to the Aschenbach family, they are in our prayers daily. We thank you Lord in allowing us the ability to remember the fallen on this day, 9/11. We thank you Lord for our military men and women stationed around the world and for keeping them and their families safe. Lord there is so much for us to be thankful for, our friends, family, neighbors, the Lassiter community, our church, Lassiter baseball, East Cobb baseball, Georgia College baseball and the many wonderful people, just following the blog.

To all of you, we love you, and can't thank you enough for your continued prayers and support. You have been amazing, you have embraced our family and lifted us in prayer in our time of need, you have warmed our hearts and souls with your love and generosity. We are truly blessed.

  2. My son is a senior at Lassiter and shared a class or two with Christopher over their overlapping years. We have not met personally but I check this blog daily and hope and pray for Christopher's recovery. Your blog today made me more tearey eyed than usual (I also have a son who is serving on a destroyer in the Arabian Sea) and I felt I must share that you are truly thought of everyday!
