We were awaken during the night with
a call from the hospital, Christopher's had gotten sick again around 1am. The
nurse wanted to let us know he would be scheduled for a chest x-ray in the
morning, to make sure he had not aspirated any fluids into the lungs. We got an
all clear this morning, after I arrived. They are still trying to pin down what
is making him sick to his stomach.
Debbie and I pulled a switch today,
she is having back spasms and so stayed in bed to rest. I took today off to be
with Christopher and met with Dr. Dennison who came in to look at Christopher's
left wrist. He decided it may be beneficial to try the botox on his wrist
flexors as well. We are finally seeing some results in his arms, they are much
more flexible than before. Dr Dennison worked and stretched Christopher's wrist
pretty aggressively, it was good Debbie wasn't here. Not sure who would have
come out on top. But my money would be on Deb.
It is hard to see your son in pain,
but I know we have to make sure we are more aggressive in this part of his
therapy. Dr. Dennison did return and inject the botox, so we should start to see
some results soon. They are planning on putting a cast on his left arm this
Friday, similar to the process they used on his right arm, a few weeks
back.
During PT, Megan had Christopher
back on the Wave, the vibrating platform. Christopher stood for two sessions and
did very well. So well that she decided we would do something different. So we
laid him down on his back and let the table all the way down, as low as it would
go. We turned him so his head was facing towards the Wave, and rolled him onto
his stomach, this is the first time he has been on his stomach since the
accident. I had a towel in hand, just in case he got sick. Slowly we pulled him
over the platform and allowed him to rest his elbows and forearms on the
platform, he was amazing, he actually relaxed, you could see it in his face. No
tension, no sneer on his lip. I think, he actually enjoyed
it.
We did eventually return to the room
and put him back to bed, where he soon fell asleep. Hopefully he will be able to
sleep through the night.
Thank you all for keeping us in your
thoughts and prayers. It means so much to us, knowing he is loved by so
many.
Praying for Debbie's health as well. Praying for strength for both of you during the hard times of watching Chris in pain. Praising God for the progress. Asking God for healing.
ReplyDeleteJust watch Debbie doesn't get into the Botox.
