Christopher remains confined to the bed today, still laying flat on his
back. This is to prevent any leakage of the cerebral spinal fluid. With the
insertion of the catheter into the intrathecal space of the spine, (this is the
space between the spinal cord and the outer protective sheath), it delivers the
medication straight into the spinal fluid and eliminates the need to digest the
medication, enabling the use of smaller doses with more effective results. This
can also minimize the side effects associated with the higher oral doses.
Christopher is doing very well, no signs or symptoms of any distress associated
with the surgery. He should be able to resume some of his therapy sessions over
the next couple of days.
Coach Kelly and his wife Courtney came in to see Christopher today,
bringing in the Lassiter Baseball Media Guides from the past four years that
Christopher played on the team. Coach Kelly informed Debbie of the plan to
retire Christopher’s #17 jersey and that they would like to have Christopher
throw out the first pitch to start next year’s season. We can only hope and pray
that he will be able to do this. We will make that one of our goals to work
towards over the next several months.
We are so grateful for the
continued support, we are at a loss for words, we are so blessed to be where we
are and associated with so many caring and loving people. There is so much focus
on the negative news each day, we seldom hear about the wonderful things that
happen, stories like this, stories that really makes you thankful. We thankfully
give our praise to the Lord for the blessings he has bestowed upon us.
Psalms 9:1:
I will give [you] thanks, O LORD, with all my heart. I will tell about all the
miracles you have done.
Praying so hard for Christopher to out that first pitch!
