We have all had a better day today. Christopher’s tube feeding is going
better; it looks like we have figured out a workable schedule and he seems to be
tolerating it, which is the most important thing.
Debbie was on the phone with the equipment company today we still have not
received several key items for Christopher’s care. We have been getting by
without them to this point, but we will have to have them in the next couple of
days.
This evening Debbie, Davis and I had Christopher walking with the aid of
the ARJO frame. We made a complete circuit around the first floor. He did a
great job taking each step, moving his legs with us making sure his feet were
set correctly. He is still not full weight bearing, the frame helps support him
during the exercise. We purchased two rolling stools so we can follow along side
of him as he walks. We are lucky the area around our first floor has wide door
frames; we barely fit through a couple of them. We will continue working him
each day to build up his strength and ours.
Over the past four months our family has been separated due to conflicting
schedules and not being able to be in multiple places at the same time. This is
really nothing new with two teenage sons in school and playing multiple sports.
The only difference is at the end of the day we were all together, having dinner
or doing something. We are finally all together again, sitting together for
dinner, teasing each other and cringing when the dogs roll over, just waiting
for our eyes to start watering. If you have dogs you all know what I am talking
about. We keep telling Christopher that odor should be more than enough to get
him up and moving.
Truly it is good to be home. Thank you all for the encouragement, continued
support and prayers.
Oh the joys of family life, it is so true that we all come togheter at the dinner table - dogs and all! We will be thinking of the Heitzmans during our dinner time and laughing with you when our dogs make eating less than nice-smelling.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, with you every day in my thoughts. Much love,
Alicia
What a great feeling to have a meal together after all these months! I'm sure the dog is very happy to have his family back together in one home at the same time! Prayers will continue for Christopher's healing.

I love that Chris is home. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help - I live close by. The Heitzman's are continually in my prayers. I love you all. May God's comfort and peace fill your home!
