Wednesday Oct. 31st

I was able to take the day off from work, so Debbie got to sleep in for a little while before going into the office. Christopher was up and ready to go this morning when I arrived. The center had prepared for a Halloween Party and had the 2nd floor gym decorated. Christopher was wearing a nice black t-shirt decorated with black tie and jacket imprint, and skeleton bones on the front. Debbie bought it just for the occasion. The girls (his therapist), have him wearing a pair of black glasses with left side of each lens darkened to keep him from moving his eyes and head too far to the left. They fit right in with the costume.

The party started at 9:30 there were several teams made up of the therapist and the patients four to five patients per team. Each team had different activities to do during the morning, decorate a haunted house, pin the nose on the witch, relay race through the maze and ghoulish dance moves to the sounds of Michael Jackson’s, Thriller. We still had an hour each of speech, occupational and recreational therapy, followed by a half hour physical therapy. A full day, even with all the activity, we had no incidents with him getting sick.

Renee, Christopher’s case manager informed me that he will be going home next Friday Nov. 9th. So we are now scrambling to get everything at home ready for his homecoming. We have been given several discharge dates already but this one seems pretty definite.  WOW.

  2. Are there things we in the community can do to help you get ready for the homecoming? Post your needs and calls can be made, donations taken, supplies purchased. Above all, we are continuing to pray for all of you!
