Our Journey To Recovery

Thursday April 18th

Another busy day, we were off to the Shepherd Center this morning foe a checkup with Christopher's care team. They will weigh him, get his vital signs and check his progress.

Christopher weighed 155 lbs. We reweighed his wheelchair, so I know this is a pretty accurate weight. Everything else is good, Laura bumped up his Baclophen dose again our next visit for a redosing is May 8th. We will also be seeing one of his doctors either Dr. Taubin or Dr. Beninga for an assessment for Botox injections in his right ankle and lower leg to relieve the tone, and hopefully for a referral for Pathways the outpatient rehab program.

Normally we see the nurse practitioner Laura. This morning we asked about a referral to see someone for Christopher's right ankle. He is still having trouble keeping it at neutral, it continues to roll when he is standing, making it difficult to get him up walking.

In reality we already had an appointment to see someone at C.H. Martin, they specialize in manufacturing the braces and splints needed to correct the problem with Christopher's ankle. We just needed to go through the proper channels for our insurance to cover the expense.

We got home around a quarter to four, just enough time to get to Gia's to get Christopher's haircut. Zuman was kind enough to take Christopher. He did a wonderful job, we thank him so much for the shampoo and haircut.

Christopher looked great, we have the upcoming dinner for the Helping One Guy Ministry tonight at the Cherokee Cattle Company restaurant on Canton Rd.
