Wednesday May 8th

Today we were back at the Shepherd Center to see Dr. Beninga for an evaluation and possible Botox injections to Christopher's right foot and lower leg. Unfortunately we were unable to get the Botox because it was too close to the last injections he had in his left arm and wrist.

Dr. Beninga is speaking with Dr. Seiler to coordinate the next round of injections, so they may be able to do them simultaneously. The injections have to be a minimum of three months apart or the patients may develop antibodies to the Botox.

The visit wasn’t a total bust; Dr. Beninga definitely saw the improvement in Christopher and signed a referral for his admissions into the Shepherd Center Pathways Outpatient Rehab Program. Someone should be contacting us within the next week.

We were also scheduled to see Laura, the Nurse Practitioner, for a Baclofen pump refill and adjustment.

Before we headed home, we stopped by Piedmont Hospital to say hello to several of our friends. We got to see Roz, Shelly, Greg and Debbie. We miss seeing them, most of them have known Christopher since we moved here from Australia and I first started to work at Piedmont Hospital.

Once we got home Judy Kimball came to sit with Christopher, we had such a nice time together. We thank Kim and Kathy for keeping the rosters full with Moms who come and sit with Christopher.

One of Christopher’s friends from school came by to see him this afternoon as well Jon Stoll. Christopher just lit up as Jon came in, it was such a nice day they sat on the back deck. Thanks Jon.
