He is being spoiled having all these cute girls working with him. This is a teaching facility and usually has several students each day. So far we have met and worked with Joe, Matt, Caitlin, all of whom we met Saturday. Linnea, the recreational therapist, Maggie, Anne, Kira, Rob, Lindsey, Dr. Kellie Williams, Dr. Rhee and Dr. Tucker. Once again I want to say everyone has been wonderful.
Today Kira and Anne worked with Christopher in the gym on standing and throwing. He has gotten to where he can throw the balls really well. It has been an great way to get him to concentrate on standing up straight.
Nice and straight |
Going for the three pointer |
They are using a small basketball and hoop, tennis ball and a small football. He was in the standing frame for over thirty minutes. It is so strange after so many months of him using his left leg to bear most of his weight when standing, he has now started shifting his weight to the right leg. We have to be careful that he doesn't start neglecting his left side as we move forward.
Smiling for the camera and mom |
He has really been working hard each day without any protest other than when he can't get out the door. We all know how much he wants to be outside. His room is at the end of the hall and his door opens up so that if he is in the bed he can see all the way down to the other end of the unit. He loves this because he can see what's going on. He is a bit of a "Sticky Beak" as Deb would say, translation is he's a bit nosy.
The weather here is turning, today has been very overcast wet and cold. It looks like I am going to have to do some shopping neither one of us has much cold weather clothing. We weren't supposed to be here this long.
Believe me though, we are happy to be here, he is getting great care.
Absolutely incredible. Look at that boy.
