Thursday Nov. 22nd

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, may the joy of family and friends be with you as you celebrate this holiday season. We are so very lucky to have Christopher home with us for this Thanksgiving. Our family together, as it should be. The love and kindness you have shown our family has made this holiday so very meaningful.

What do we have to be thankful for, you may ask? With all that we are going through, there are still many more with much heavier burdens than we bear. We pray for the many thousands still experiencing the aftermath from the storm Sandy, the servicemen as they remain in harms way protecting us around the world and their families as they worry about their loved ones safety.

I would also like to say a special prayer for Darion Elizabeth Hugh Sam and her family. Darion is a young lady who is a 2011 graduate from Lassiter who was crossing Shallowford Road when hit by a car. We met her and her family while at Shepherd Center. She was discharged a week or so before us but is back in the hospital on a ventilator with pneumonia.

Lord with all the hatred we see spanning this globe; we are overwhelmed by the goodness we have experienced, here in our little part of the world. So many people have reached out to our family sharing their thoughts, prayers and love, asking to help in some way. The love and concern shown for Christopher and our family means more to us than anything.

As we sit down to dinner today we look onto a table with all the holiday trimmings of a traditional Thanksgiving. Thank you Scott Hayes for the wonderful vegetables and cranberry sauce, Debbie and I nearly ate all of it while the vegetables were heating in the oven. Many of you may know Scott from Catering Cajuns. Scott has been up north for the past several weeks feeding the many workers trying to restore power and cleanup the debris after the hurricane. We had way more food than we could ever eat, typical Thanksgiving meal. He like so many of you, have taken time from your busy schedules to prepare meals for my family, I give thanks for this. We have been well fed. Davis is even putting on some weight.

As I sit here in the office at the computer typing, I can hear Christopher in the other room breathing as he sleeps. It is a wonderful sound, I know he is at peace and his body is healing. Well it is time for bed, so good night, may the Lord protect you and give you comfort, as you have comforted us.

  1. What a wonderful Thanksgiving message. I have been at the hospital this week with my mother. Thankfully, she was better and was home for Thanksgiving. A great blessing to be with family. Something that I have taken for granted in the past. We will pray for Darion and her family. It was so great to see you guys in church today! You are in our hearts, on our minds, and in our prayers, always!
