We met William at Grady hospital during one of the Monday night family sessions, his wife was a stroke patient in the Neuro ICU when we first arrived. William was very nice, he seemed to assume the role of looking after all the new people coming into the unit. He showed us where the shower and linen were on the 8th floor, he was the self appointed ambassador for the area.
Always with a smile, he would come by to check on us each day. Even after we were transferred to Shepherd, he called to check on Christopher every week. Debbie while attending a fund raiser sponsored by Kim, another mother from Grady, found out while William was away from work caring for his wife, he lost his job and eventually the house they lived in.
Today Debbie and Coleman are taking William to find a place to stay until he can get into the apartment complex his brother is living in. Debbie has found a room in close proximity to the nursing home where his wife is living, to Marta and the shopping areas.
