Our Journey To Recovery

Our Journey To Recovery

Monday June 10th thru Sunday June 16th

We started the week still recovering from having the wisdom teeth removed. Christopher has done so well. Still has some moderate swelling but all in all he has been wonderful.

Robert and Debbie are flying back to Canada today, we celebrated Father's Day yesterday, they cooked a wonderful brunch. Unfortunately because of the Lacrosse tournament we ate quite a bit later in the day. Yea we know Father's Day is next week. Good for me though I get two days, yeah!

Wednesday we finally got in to see doctor Carney, he is the urologist that repaired Christopher's bladder after the accident at Grady Hospital. We are seeing him to assess when to schedule Christopher's next surgery to now repair the stricture in the urethra. Dr Carney feels assured the surgery can be successful but can't be sure Christopher can successfully control his bladder, worst case scenario. So we have to make the decision whether to have it or not.

We are going to continue to believe Christopher is going to make a full recovery and want to give him the best chance to live a normal life. So we will be scheduling his surgery for later this summer. Keep us in your prayers that we are making the right decision.

Christopher is really getting back to his normal cheerful self, most all of the swelling is gone and he only has some slight bruising left on his cheeks. His appetite has returned and he is eating regular food once again. Friday we will return to Pathways for his therapy sessions, we missed Monday and Wednesday due to his recovery from the surgery.

Thursday I met with Cathy Zingler, Cathy is one of the special education teachers at Lassiter High School. She will be helping Christopher with his communication skills. Cathy and her husband Gary have volunteered to work with Christopher two days a week starting next week.

We are so thankful for the continued thoughts, prayers and love. You keep us strong.

We are looking forward to a quiet weekend.
