Our therapy sessions at Pathways are continuing to be a challenge, Christopher is very vocal about what he does and doesn't want to do and continues to try and make a beeline to the doors every time we get close to one.
He does really likes Ruth Ann the occupational therapist, she has been getting him to put his left hand into some bins with different types of substances like dried rice, macaroni and beans letting him get used to the sensation on his hand and finger. The hope is to desensitize it to the point he is more tolerant of us manipulating it. He is even grabbing handfuls of the rice and pouring it over his wrist.
The other two therapist aren't having the same success, he is resisting their efforts every chance he gets. It may be due to the new environment and all of the commotion around him. We have been using a private room for much of his therapy sessions to keep the distractions to a minimum.
They are hoping that after the Botox injections in July they will able to get him up and walking, I met with the physician who is following his progress and we have decided to delay any further therapy until after the July injections, hopefully to allow the sessions to be more productive.
Cathy on the other hand has been wonderful with Christopher, he has been very receptive to her. Tuesday they worked together for over and hour and a half. She had him laughing and working all at the same time. Her patience with him is amazing, how can we be so lucky to have the support of so many wonderful people. Thursdays session was just as successful, probably even more so she brought M&M's.
Gary, Cathy's husband came and spent an hour or more with Christopher taking him for a walk around the neighborhood, talking and just getting to know him. He was great. Christopher had a great time swapping sunglasses with Gary.
Friday we headed out for Charlotte, NC Davis had a lacrosse tournament, they ended up finishing in second place they lost 3-1 in the finals. Christopher enjoyed being around all of the kids and watching the activity. We saw friends of ours from Smyrna, Susan and Monty one of their sons Sam was playing as well.
On our way home we stopped in Greenville to see Dana Moyer and her family.

We had a great weekend.
Oh WOW! It's good to see Chris doing so well! I had heard nothing until the other day, a nurse extern on ICU at Shepherd had mentioned that she knew Chris from school, and if I had ever heard of him. Then she told me about this site and gave me the link. I'm amazed and excited at how good he's doing! If you ever need a hand, I would love to work with Chris, or just hang out with him. contact me at ajp6224@stuents.kennesaw.edu
